Using mixed media and craft techniques my work attempts to tell the experience of Irish Catholics in the Protestant controlled state in the north of Ireland. Using carpentry and blacksmithing to create an oppressive space in which to tell the individual stories of those who experienced It. I aim to emulate the Murals of Belfast which by creating situations and breaking the passivity of the spectator forces the viewer to become a part of the work as an added component. Working in a variety of materials including steel and timber. This work was a collaboration piece with thanks to Danny Devenny, Ethna Glover, Nula Stroud, Collette Turner, Gilles Favier and Raymond Glover, for sharing their stories, thanks Maddie for the artwork and Peter Walker, Kevin Glover and Timothy Turner for editing and voice over.
