Woodland Life Gestures
Based in Moreton Wood in Herefordshire, I work as both an artist and a woodland manager. I gather and process the natural materials of the woodland to create images and sculpted objects that explore the complexities of our relationship with the natural landscape through the themes of pattern, trace and gesture. For me the repetitive labour involved in gathering and preparing the wild materials is an essential part of my art work. The qualities of these processed materials are an important element of the finished piece.
In Movement Will Hodson, of 2Faced Dance Company, is dancing in Moreton Wood in response to the sounds, shapes and movements of the woodland. Filmed both by myself and Emma Drabble of Drabble and Co. photography.
