During high school I was in a domestically abusive relationship, for 2 years and 8 months. Starting with verbal and physical assault and eventually progressing to sexual assault and attempted rapes. My mental state became unstable, with “I said no” constantly lingering in my thoughts. I eventually escaped this relationship, and now use my work to educate my audience about domestic abuse. These images reflect my mental health during this time, but also how both my family and friends were blinded sighted by both my bruises and how I perceived life during this challenging time.
