My current practice is looking at marks and traces that are left behind by people. I find the little legacies of people to be fascinating and as such, I often use found wood and wooden materials, as they hold many traces of legacies, inside and out. Thus, I create sculptures inspired by these marks on the ground, creating geometric sculptures.
Creating these sculptures is a very physical act, almost a dance. This interaction is physically imbued into the sculptures. This is interesting to me because I am leaving a new trace, and a new legacy to the work.
I take my inspiration for my sculptures from the traces I find in everyday things; cracks in the pavement, peeling paint, discarded building materials. I find beauty in the mundane. It is fascinating to see the traces we leave behind, the intangible marks we make, without even realising it.
