I am an artist blacksmith and metalworker; my practice focuses on applying the best qualities of hot metal with narrative driven research to craft objects which invite practical use while telling a story.
When I design I am intent on drawing the spotlight to the most exciting qualities of hot metal. Working in a way to show the materials plasticity though dynamic changes in section, material spread and contrast this with intermittent uniform sections influenced by the manufacturing boom of the industrial revolution.
In my work, I value quality and strive in the pursuit of good workmanship, knowing that everything I have undertaken in the making of an object was considered and justified.
My working philosophy revolves mainly around problem solving. The more of a complete understanding about process I can gain, the more ways I have to solve problems in the future.
