Gestures of Vulnerability
I have chosen to present a series of sensuous meditations on the themes of concealment and vulnerability. The work is intended to be tactile and intimate while aiming to provoke a dialogue through partially censored symbolism and hidden narratives. Using processual responses such as exploring direct connectivity with materials, facilitating primal gestures, and putting myself in the work, challenges the intrusion of personal convention allowing an authentic voice to emerge.
During the From Recognisable Sources exhibition I will be creating durational drawings and gestures throughout the week of the exhibition, based on direct engagement with the environment, with the intention they will be added to the currently displayed works to reinforce the sense of it being ‘in-flux’.
