The city skyline evokes and emotional response for the people who live within its confinements. Within this body of work, I’ve been inspired by views of City Skylines and in response have designed and made a collection of silver and resin Jewellery. The cities New York, Hong Kong and Melbourne have been depicted, with a focus on the details of each city, and its architecture. The collection is centred around men’s wear jewellery featuring sets of cufflinks and a tie bar for each city.

The city skyline evokes and emotional response for the people who live within its confinements. Within this body of work, I have been inspired by views of City Skylines and in response I imagined and designed and made a collection of silver and resin Jewellery. The work seen first began through my love of travel and photography. I have always been captured by landscapes and cityscapes, often photographing them. In recent years I have had the opportunity to visit many cities from around the world with the intention to keep exploring capturing and distilling my experiences into jewellery. The cities New York, Hong Kong and Melbourne have been depicted, with a focus on the details of each city, and its architecture.

The collection is centred around men’s wear jewellery featuring sets of cufflinks and a tie bar for each city. Each set of Cufflinks has been made from one photograph with half the city depicted on the right and the second half on the left. This was done so as to capture more of the city and help to maintain its full skyline. Using CAD/CAM 3D manufacturing I have been able to faithfully recreate the cities on a miniature scale preserving the architectural forms of the city. The Silver range was created to show what is possible with the process of lost wax casting and push the boundaries around size and weight which could be achieved, yet staying functional as jewellery. The finish on the pieces was left textured, representing the cities complex histories and rich cultures. The use of mix media within half of the collection comes from the interest in range and aesthetic. Offering a product at an affordable price but not devaluing the experience of ownership, and the message behind the work.
