This collection of abstract sculptural ceramics explores space through my emotional connection to natural places. They are an impression of being in that space and my impact and internalisation of place. All have qualities of growth. Within this collection I have been experimenting with creating replications of the same form and then manipulating them and giving them a matte sgraffito surface. I used vibrant colours from the environment and set them against the natural clay colours, the earthy terracotta, peat of black clay and the bone white of porcelain. I have explored the spatial dynamic using the manipulation to give them living qualities and express connections and contrasts between experience of place.
