Jacob Edmondson

I am a hot-forged metal worker who makes sculptural and architectural iron pieces driven by the enjoyment of creation and the challenges facing me when approaching a new project. I like working with large pieces of solid metal, exploiting its property when shaped and indented using different blacksmithing equipment, exploring the flow of shape and the lines and silhouettes made.  I do not wish to imply or convey any emotion in my work but that viewers take what they need to from it. Inspiration comes through problem-solving through drawing/writing during the imagination of future works and through looking at other artists who create not only in forged metals but in other mediums too. I value high-quality work with a clear aesthetic: work that experiments with techniques and tests convention. My working philosophy is playful, positive with a stubborn drive to create an object/piece.
