My sculptures are totems, and my paintings the narratives. Autobiographical and symbolic of childhood growing up in the West Country, I have a real connection with woodland, a true feeling of romance for the rural landscape, and a love of its animals, birds and insects. I interweave my family roots and dynamics with elements of transparency and honesty, but depicting space and a distinct awareness of mortality. Strongly intertwined with tales heavily influenced by history, literature and local folklore. My immersion within the landscape evokes in me a deep sense of clarity and a purity of spirit.
