I make conceptual forged metal sculpture and related products. As a practitioner, my foundation inspiration behind my projects comes from theoretical ideas applied to forged metal design. An example of this from my most recent project revolves around the sounds of craft acting as a connection between the making process and the finished object. To then display the sound of the forged sculpture’s making process with the thing itself tells the story of the theory.
The design style of my work often revolves around natural plant growth as a recurring theme, and this is then merged with traditional forging techniques to develop a conversation between my own touch and the material in my work. My inspiration is expressed through specific features and design motifs as well as accompanying written text in the work.
