My practice revolves around fashion and the topics of identity within gender roles. I explore the themes surrounding stereotypes of both masculinity and femininity within our society. Much of my work so far has been inspired by the vintage fashion magazine styles of the 50s to the early 70s, with a bright pop art flair.
I bring in the wonderful and unique style of surrealism to create the juxtapositions of gender and incorporate this uncomfortable feel whilst also being humorous. From the poses to the props, adding this uncomfortableness to show the rejection of these gender roles given to us by society and to show the serious themes underneath the bright visuals.
