Faces are powerful communicators. I am interested in the shared humanity that portraiture can convey both in the process of making and viewing.
My practice is centred around making intimate portraits primarily of family and friends. My current focus is painting people from life, through this the process I connect with each sitter and capture them honestly. The exchange between myself and the sitters and time shared is just as valuable to me as the final portrait. My hope is that people will see this connection in my work.
Face to Face is somewhere between a studio and an exhibition. I am using the space as a temporary studio throughout the degree show as well as displaying my most recent portraits, sketches and current workings.
