Helen is an artist basket maker creating contemporary basketry designs that are informed by traditional techniques and inspired by nature and plants resulting in innovative and unique designs.
Weaving baskets of mainly functional design has led to her experimenting with different shapes and forms, drawing from nature and the landscape.
Here current body of work was inspired by the seed pods of the Mallow flower, that are made up of five skeletal petals that hold the seeds within.
She has designed woven lampshades that reflect the beauty of the mallow seed pods whilst creating a statement within the room they are in, by casting interesting shadows through the gaps in the woven forms. To complement the lighting, Helen has made a collection of baskets incorporating the organic forms that celebrate the natural colours of her home-grown willows.
