In these works, Joshua explores value, the precious metals, gems and craft displayed in the rings on display showing a more traditional display of value, where the reimagined ceremonial set, the knives, nails, and horseshoes, show a more contemporary take on the concept of value today.
The rings themselves are inspired by embracing the concept of traditional blacksmithing and jewellery techniques to create contemporary pieces for daily wear with a timeless feel, where the ceremonial items are designed specifically to fit within a single ritual, and elevate the items used in it by the introduction of care in craft, precious metals, and gems. The silver nails with the pin backing are limited in number, to allow the carrying a part of the ritual with you in day-to-day life.
